QUEENSBURY --- Albena "Bea" Mary Albano, passed away in peace at the age of 95 while at The Stanton Nursing Home in Queensbury, N.Y. on Friday, October 4, 2013.
"Bea" Albano nee Smolnik was born on March 13, 1918 in Springfield, VT and was one of five siblings born to the late Anthony and Maria (Petraska) Smolnik.
She was predeceased in death by her brothers, Wasil and Bernard Smolnik, and sisters, Irene Ripchik and Sophie Smolnik.
Bea Albano spent forty years happily married to John L. Albano who passed away on May 2, 1983. She and her husband worked and raised their family in Ludlow, VT. She moved to Glens Falls, N.Y. in 1987 and was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Bea loved sewing, making berry preserves, gardening, and baking. Bea was also a member of Glens Falls Senior Citizens Center, where she enjoyed playing BINGO and participating in their outings. Above all, her family was the center of her life.
Bea is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Patti Albano of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Joe and Lynne Albano of Glens Falls, N.Y.; her four grandchildren and spouses, Andrea (Gary) Owen of Burke, VA, Brian (Kerie) Albano of Torrance, CA, Leslie (Craig) Nelson of Raleigh, N.C. and Jennifer Albano of Wilton, N.Y.
This past summer, "Grammy Bea" was visited by her five great-grandchildren, Olivia and Andrew Owen, Julia and Jake Albano, and Tate Nelson.
The family of Bea Albano would like to recognize and graciously thank all the wonderful staff in the East Wing of The Stanton Nursing Home for their compassionate care and kindness.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, N.Y.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls, N.Y.
A committal service will take place at a later date at the family burial plot in Ludlow, VT.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to one of Bea Albano's favorite charities, St. Mary's Food Pantry, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, N.Y. 12801.
