Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Aleta "Lee" P. (Arnold) Reeves passed away on Saturday morning, August 3, 2024, with her family by her side.  She was 93 years old.

Lee was born in the house of the family farm on Rowley Road in Ballston Spa.  She was the youngest daughter of Arthur and Emma (King) Arnold.  Lee spent her early years on the farm living the country life.  She attended Malta Ridge, a one room schoolhouse.  After that she attended Saratoga Schools.  But, before she could graduate, dad moved the family to the big city of Glens Falls in 1947 where she finished at Glens Falls High School.

In 1949 Lee met Jimmy Reeves.  On August 27, 1950, Aleta P. Arnold married James Wamsley Reeves at Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls.  Together they raised three children.   Lee loved fashion, clothes and accessories.  She built a career out of that.  Her first job was in the fashion department of Montgomery Ward.  It wasn't too long before she was managing that department along with the lingerie and accessories departments.  When Montgomery Ward closed 16 years later, Lee moved on in fashion working with Erlanger's, Casual Corner, and Joan and David Shoes.  She was stylish until the very end.

Besides fashion her other interests were cooking and especially baking, which Lee excelled at.  She made cakes for all occasions.  Not just for her family, but almost anyone who needed, or wanted one.

Lee loved a party, especially with family and friends.  Her house was always open.  One of her favorite occasions was her Christmas Eve open house.

Lee was a member of Christ Church United Methodist and a proud member of the Eagles Women's Auxiliary Club.

In addition to her parents, Lee was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, James W. Reeves; siblings Cordie Smith, Daniel Arnold, and Dorothy Reinhardt; and her beloved son-in-law Dennis Buckley.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Jamie Buckley, John Charles Reeves, and Constance Marie Moffitt.  "Germie" as she was known, is also survived by her grandchildren, Meghan Allshouse, Allyson Smith, Justin Moffitt and Amanda Moffitt; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Ayden Smith, Kinsley Smith, Madelyn Allshouse, Emma Allshouse, and James Moffitt.  Lee is also survived by her nieces and nephews, especially Dee Reinhardt Williams.  And we can't forget to mention her beloved companion "Pumpkin," her orange tabby cat.

We would like to thank Kim Fitzpatrick, Angela Schulze, Ariyanna Jenkins, and Kristy Perkins who cared so lovingly for our mom.  Also, faithful friends Chuck and Mary Jacox, and the Myhrberg family.

Lee was a lifelong cat lover so she would love donations in her memory be made to Purrs and Paws Cat Shelter , P.O. Box 4197, Queensbury, NY 12804.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Lockwood officiating.  We want to thank Rev. Lockwood for staying in touch with our mother for many years.
