QUEENSBURY --- On Monday, June 20, 2016, Alfred "Al" Kleeman passed away at the age of 96.

He was born in 1920 in Stuttgart, Germany. He attended Grade School in Stuttgart and in Vienna, Austria. He came to the United States with his parents in 1929. He graduated from High School in the U.S.A.

Predeceased are his parents, Ernest and Helen (Richter) Kleeman, and his sister Marie Petri, all of New York City.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Dorothy "Hanni" (Barthel) Kleeman, and beloved daughter, Laura Kleeman of New York City. Dorothy and Al were married for 68 blissful years.

In 1937, he went back to Vienna to enroll in the famed "Graphic Arts Institute" of the "Fine Arts School" to study and excel in Photo-Lithography and Cartography. He returned to the United States in 1939 to run the Offset-Lithography Division at 'Fox Press' in Hartford, Conn.

In Dec. 1941, he was drafted in the United States Army serving his country as a Corporal with the 62nd Signal Battalion from there transferring, as part of a 'Cadre' to start up a new Battalion, the 653rd Topographic-Cardiographic Engineer Battalion. He became a Staff/Sergeant and placed in charge of the Aerial Film unit to produce and print Topographic maps and bombing charts of Japan from the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater of War.

After the War, he was hired to run the Photography Section of "AMCO," a large Offset-Lithography Plant in New York City. He was there for 35 years as Foreman and Union Delegate. He retired to his home in North Queensbury in 1982. A life member of the VFW and CBI Veteran's Association, he was also a member of American Legion, AARP Chapter #3891, the Queensbury Senior, and the German American Society of the Adirondacks.

Complying with the wishes of Al, there will be no showing at the funeral home.

A graveside with military honors will take place Tuesday, August 16 at 11 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

Instead of flowers, he would like his friends to donate to any of our Veteran's Organizations who are helping our veterans come back to civilian life. (A suggestion - Adirondack Vets House, Inc., 26 Pine Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801)

The family wishes to thank their friends, relatives, and the doctors and nurses at the Glens Falls hospital for all their consideration and support.
