GLENS FALLS --- Altemese Dolores Thomas, 80, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Altemese was born July 20, 1941 to Raymond and Rossie Woods in Winter Haven, Florida. At a young age, the family moved to Glens Falls, N.Y.
In the early 1950's, she joined The Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church and served very faithfully. She served as President of the Women's Ministry for 15 years. She really enjoyed the pastor's preaching and listening to the choir.
Some of the things that she loved to do included shopping online through QVC, watching comedians and dancing on YouTube as well as watching church services, and also watching Hallmark Movie Channel and Tiger Woods playing golf, and cooking for friends and family.
In 1959 she married Roy Thomas. From that union, two sons were born, Michael and Mark. They enjoyed spending time together, also with Roy's daughter, Sandra.
Their families are left behind to remember her bright smile and her loving hugs.
In addition to her parents, Altemese was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy, who passed on in 2018.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Michael of Maryland, and Mark of Glens Falls; her stepdaughter, Sandra of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Althea (Joseph) Williams of Queensbury; granddaughters, Jemese, Lysia, Morgan, and Avianna; grandsons, Demitrius, Alex, Peyton, and Jordan; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, David Woods of Glens Falls, and Andre Woods of Queensbury, cousins, and a host of dear friends.
Calling hours will take place Friday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to noon at Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, 15 Nelson St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
A funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Leonard Oates, pastor, officiating.
Altemese will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Roy, after her funeral on Friday, at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Rev. Leonard Oates and the Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church family, Lee and Angela Braggs, Glens Falls Hospital ICU staff, and Moreau EMS.
