WARRENSBURG --- Agnes Dolores Shaw, 95, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.
Born October 25, 1922 in New Jersey, she was daughter of Andrew and Anna (Markovits) Hirkala.
She graduated from Clifton High School in New Jersey.
Some of her enjoyments included baking and cooking for friends and family, especially baking her famous "outrageous cookies." Agnes enjoyed her weekly visits to the beauty parlor and always made sure her lipstick was on and her nails were painted.
On February 19, 1944 in Wallington, N.J., Agnes married Robert B. Shaw, Jr.
Agnes and her husband, Robert, moved to Upstate New York from Wallington, N.J., in 1971 and with the help and hard work of their son, Roger, family and friends, they began building the campground and officially opened for business in 1973. Agnes was dedicated to running her campground up until her death. She loved her campers and always made sure everyone knew she was "the Boss."
Agnes was the owner of Queen Village Campground in Warrensburg.
She was a parishioner of St. Cecilia's Church in Warrensburg; Wallington VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2640; and she was a member of the Wallington Board of Education.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Shaw Jr.; and a son, Robert B. Shaw, III.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Roger B. (Christine) Shaw; grandchildren, Katie Shaw, and Kelly Shaw (Frank) Giordano; a great-grandchild, Joseph Giordano; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Per the family's request, services will be private.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to family, friends, and all the campers over the years.
