Anna Mae
Wells
Apr 5, 1935 — May 8, 2026
Anna Mae Wells, 91, of Ticonderoga passed away peacefully in Glens Falls on May 8, 2026 after a brief illness. Born on April 5, 1935, in North Creek, Anna Mae was the beloved daughter of Truman and Viola Fish and the oldest of ten children raised in Chestertown.
Anna Mae was a devoted wife to the late William S. Wells and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, William Wells of Hague NY, Jacqueline Porth (James) of Ovalo TX, and Duane Wells (Cecilia) of Lakeside CA. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tonya, Heather, Kylee, DJ, Elizabeth, Matthew, and Derek; as well as six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William S. Wells; her son, Gary Wells; daughter- in-law, Katie Wells; and granddaughters, Crystal and Jessica.
Anna Mae was a woman of deep faith and remained devoted to her beliefs throughout her life. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ticonderoga. Anna Mae devoted most of her life to being a homemaker. Over the years, she also cared for many children – and while she loved every one of them, she was never afraid to keep them in line with a sharp look, a quick wit, and the kind of no-nonsense attitude only Anna Mae could deliver.
She never met a bargain she didn’t love, a dolphin she wouldn’t smile at, or a plate of spaghetti she couldn’t improve. Anna Mae kept busy with knitting needles in hand, sewing projects on the table, and Christmas fudge cooling in the kitchen long before anyone was allowed to sneak a piece. She adored cardinals, believed every sale sign was a personal invitation, and could stretch a dollar better than most people could stretch a recipe.
Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Pines at Glens Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation for their love and care during her final days. They would also like to thank close friends Brian and Samantha who gave their time and love to Anna Mae as if she were family. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and, in spirit, swimming alongside her beloved dolphins. Funeral services will be held privately by her family.
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
