FLORIDA --- Arlene M. Hammersley, 86, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Born April 25, 1937, in Ilion, New York, she was the daughter of Stanley and Doris (Clements) Wheelock.
Arlene graduated from high school in 1954 and went on to work as a school crossing guard for many years.
Arlene married Donald Hammersley on October 9, 1954, in New York City.
Some of her enjoyments in life were cooking, traveling the country, and camping. She especially loved playing the piano and her puzzle books.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Hammersley; son, Alan Hammersley; grandson, Jason Montwill; and brothers, Eugene and Fred Wheelock.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gina Montwill of Long Island, Vicki Hammersley of Rensselaer, Denise Ward of Queensbury; grandchildren, Melissa, Danielle, Dennis, Stephanie, Paul, Kelsey, Jennifer, Eric, Peter, and Randy; 10 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Edward and Arlene; also, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A memorial service will follow at 11a.m. with the Rev. Peter Johnson officiating.
A graveside ceremony for Arlene and her husband Donald will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, with military honors for Donald.
