Obituary

FORT EDWARD ---Armand E. Gonyea, 78, of Sisson Rd., passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side following a courageous battle with Parkinson's.

Born March 4, 1938 in Salmon River, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leonard I. and Marion Louise (Robare) Gonyea.

Armand attended school at Morrisonville School.

On April 2, 2000, he married Linda Waters in Hawaii.

After 42 years of dedicated service, he retired from Decora.

He was a member of Good Sam Club, and Merry Mohican Square Dance Club where he and his wife enjoyed dancing together. They also loved traveling around the country in their RV.

In addition to parents, Armand was predeceased by a daughter, Susen Gonyea and a step-daughter, Alberta Martin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Linda Gonyea; three children, Debie Gonyea of Utica, Armand "Jay" Gonyea of California, Rickey (Kelly) Gonyea of Gloversville; two step-daughters, Darcy Rowell of Glens Falls, and Stacey Deihl of Watertown; grandchildren, Amy-Sue Armstrong and JJ, Armand McDuff, Kenneth and Sabrina Martin, and Daniel, Kristopher, and Jacob Deihl; two sisters, Gloria Bren of Trail, Minnesota and Verna Desourdy of Hudson Falls; four brothers, Marvin (Jeanette) Gonyea, Donald (Beryle) Gonyea all of Hudson Falls, Gary (Pat) Gonyea of Manlius, and Gerald (Virginia) Gonyea of Ridgetop, Tennessee; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

At the family's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

Interment will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.

A gathering to celebrate his life will take place following the burial at Kingsbury Firehouse, Burgoyne Ave., Hudson Falls.

Armand's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the caring hospice nurses, especially Carol and Kellie, as well as their compassionate neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
