ATHOL --- Arthur "Skip" F. Bessaw, 51, of High St., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness.
Born May 1, 1964 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Elizabeth J. (Lewis) Bessaw.
Skip married Kelly L. Crossman on June 18, 1988 at Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls.
Skip was a true entrepreneur, starting young before he was 10 years old he opened a "bank" and charged interest when his sisters borrowed money. He also did lawn care in his pre-teen years. Since the age of 16, Skip worked at Westmount Health Facility where he became Maintenance Director of Building and Grounds. Most recently, he became Senior Engineering Tech with Warren County. He also owned and operated Bessaw's Cleaning Services, and later Bessaw's Auto Detailing.
Every year, on his birthday, Skip enjoyed opening his pool for the summer. He liked relaxing by the pool during the day and roasting marshmallows by a fire at night. He also liked barbeques and restaurants, especially those with prime rib and lobster. He liked to travel to visit friends, and above all, Skip loved spending time with his children, his family, and his friends. Some of his further enjoyments included setting up train sets, interior/exterior decorating, and mowing the lawn.
For many years, Skip was a dedicated member of Thurman Fire and Rescue, as well as West Glens Falls Fire Department, and the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 81.
With his quick wit, endearing smile, and willingness to give anyone a helping hand, Skip touched so many people's lives.
In addition to his parents, Skip was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Wendy Morin, and his father-in-law, Albert Crossman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 27 years, Kelly Bessaw of Athol/Thurman; two children, Wendy E. Bessaw and Wesley S. Bessaw, both of Athol/Thurman; two sisters, Janeè Dorman of Lake George, and Vicki (Brett) DeLong of Queensbury; an aunt, Jean Lewis (Phil) Bartlett of Hudson Falls; mother-in-law, Grace Crossman of South Glens Falls; three sisters-in-law, Judy Nacua of Saratoga Springs, Vickie (Richard) Myott of Argyle, and Ronnie (Glenn) Miner, also of Argyle; two brothers-in-law, Daniel Crossman and Mark Morin, both of South Glens Falls; six nieces, Cortney Warner House and her children, McKenzie and Hunter, Casi Habshi and her children, Andrew, Jaelyn, Kaiden, and Natalia, Junina Nacua and her children, Austyn, Harrison, Blayke, and Cody, Nichole Geneir, Erni Geneir, and Amanda Morin; 8 nephews, Cameron Dorman, Stephen (Laura) Nacua and their daughter, Ava, Kyle Morin, Richard A.
