Obituary

QUEESNBURY – Barbara J. (Bruce) Flewelling, 80, passed away in her home on Friday, January 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born January 9, 1935 in Fort Edward, her parents, Edward and Dorothy (Wait) Bruce, both predecease her.

On October 18, 1952 she married Lawrence "Larry" Flewelling who passed March 31, 2008.

Barbara retired from J & J Lingerie in September, 1993 after many years of faithful service, due to her illness.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially enjoying her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister, Joyce.

Barbara liked doing word search puzzles, reading magazines and watching TV. She was a faithful viewer of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy for many years. She also enjoyed Reality TV, watching Survivor and Big Brother every season.

For many years she attended many BINGO halls in the area with West Glens Falls Fire Dept. being her favorite.

Along with her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by her son, Kevin Flewelling; grandchildren, Kevin and Katrina Flewelling; sister, Mary Beecher; brothers, Edward, John, and Leo Bruce; and son-in-law, Richard Lipps.

Survivors include her children, Donna (David) Broe, Lawrence (Bonnie) Flewelling Jr., Richard (Yvonne) Flewelling, Shelly (Charlie) Hayes, and Sheila (Peter) Smith all of Queensbury; her sister, Joyce LaPierre of Schuylerville; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will take place Thursday, January 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday, January 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Pine View Cemetery.

The family requests that friends and family perform a "random act of kindness" in memory of Barbara.
