Obituary

SARATOGA SPRINGS --- Barbara R. (Howe) Whitman, 82, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at Wesley Nursing Facility. Born March 24, 1943, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of Leonard and Marjorie (Griffin) Howe.

Barbara attended Hudson Falls High School. In September of 1965 she married Ronald J. Whitman, Sr.

Some of her favorite things in life were playing BINGO, crocheting, and camping. She was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching the local hockey teams, especially the Red Wings when they were in Glens Falls. She was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan; she never missed watching a game if she could help it. Spending time with family was important to her. She loved her yearly family vacations to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She could be found lying on the beach soaking in the sun, walking the beach collecting sand dollars or checking out the shops. She enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World with her daughters. Barbara was very proud of her children and never missed any of their sporting events, school functions or any other special occasions in their lives.

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom for most of her children's younger years. Later, she worked at the Hudson Falls Middle School until 1993 when she had a stroke.

One of her proudest accomplishments was being a past President of the Tri County Mother of Twins Club.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Ronald J. Whitman, Sr.; brother, Erwin Howe; in-laws, Walter and Elfia (Clute) Whitman, sister-in-law, Karen Whitman; brother-in-law, Richard Brody; and her very special cousin, Bernie Howe.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, RJ (Brenda) Whitman, Rusty (Wendy) Whitman, Jennifer Whitman (Fred), and Stephanie Weatherwax; grandchildren, Caitlin, Ronald, Zachary Whitman (Chelsea), Josh Whitman (Montana), Nikki (Justin) Andrews, Caleb and Kaiden Kelly, and Kevin and Corey Weatherwax; great grandchildren, Connor Whitman, Ryder and Kyla Whitman, Alyvia Weatherwax, Kairi, Jaxson, Addie, and Grayson Weatherwax, and Charlie Andrews; sister, Patricia Brody; brother, Allen (Joan) Howe; special friend, Sally Emerson of Kansas; also several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
