FORT EDWARD – Barbara Jean Murphy, 82, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center, after a long illness.
Barbara was born in Glens Falls on July 7, 1932, the daughter of Harry and Cora (Hurlburt) Carpenter.
She graduated from Glens Falls High School and devoted her time to being a homemaker, wife, and mother after she married her late husband, William Murphy.
Barbara's enjoyments were their six wonderful children and eventually, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Robert Carpenter.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Marcia (Bob) Fitzgerald of Glens Falls, Gayle (Greg) Perkins of Lake Luzerne, Nancy (Newt) Bacon of Fort Edward, Karen (Mark) Spencley of Levering, Michigan, David (Lori) Murphy of Fort Edward, and Patrick (Heather) Murphy of Hudson Falls; 11 grandchildren, Christine Meade, Cathy Roberts, Nancy Fitzgerald, Chelsey Perkins, Chad Perkins, Rachel McIntosh, Cody Bacon, Mark Spencley, Caitlin Scheappi, Ethan Murphy, and Riley Murphy; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Palmer of Hudson Falls and Beverly Carpenter of Glens Falls; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pall Bearers include Robert Fitzgerald, Greg Perkins, Newt Bacon, and Mark Spencley.
Calling hours will take place Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A funeral service will follow, Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Bazinet officiating.
Burial will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
Donations in her loving memory may be sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
