Queensbury - Beatrice (Olson) Weissinger, 92 died peacefully at sunrise surrounded by loved ones on June 30, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Beatrice was born on July 4, 1923 to Swedish immigrants August and Brita Olson in West Nyack, New York as the 4th of July Parade passed by their home. She was their youngest child and only American-born child.
Beatrice was predeceased by her beloved husband John Frederick Weissinger, Jr. They lived and raised their family in Nanuet, New York. Beatrice was also predeceased by her parents and siblings Swen Olson, Eric Olson, Arthur Olson and Alice Frith.
Beatrice was a great Mom and loving wife and daughter. Her family was the center of her universe. She was a homemaker and during her children's school years worked as a part-time school crossing guard for the Town of Clarkstown Police Department. After the kids were out of school, she worked as a Security Officer at Nyack Hospital before moving to Queensbury.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Britta (Ed) Schadwill of Queensbury, Patricia (Alan Sr.) Dagistino of Stony Point, NY, and Gretchen (FSIL Jonathan "Pete") Steffan of Queensbury.
She was also blessed with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren she loved dearly including: Jennifer Wunderlich and her children Tyler, Andrew and Jayden of Ohio, John Schadwill, his wife Tabitha and his children Melvin and Ella of Queensbury, Lynde Schadwill and her daughter Olivia of Glens Falls, Alan Dagistino Jr. of Colorado and Lauren Dagistino of New York City and her fiancée Frankie Collyer, who will be married in September. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Beatrice was a loving person and cherished her friends, especially at Solomon Heights in Queensbury, where she was known as "Queen Bea." She was blessed with wonderful care givers and care professionals over the last few years and was especially fond of Cheyenne. Many area doctor's offices will laughingly remember her FSIL's introductions of the "Lady Beatrice."
A special thank you to our friends at the Peppermill Restaurant in South Glens Falls, who always treated Mom like royalty and the caring and compassionate Care Teams of GFH 3 West.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Fort Hudson Health Systems Foundation (319 Broadway, Fort Edward, New York 12828) because of the wonderful Rehab and Home Care she has received.
