Chestertown - Betty Rutherford, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital, follow a brief illness.

Born March 9, 1925, in Junction City Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Martha Gfeller.

In addition to her parents she was proceeded by her husband, Benjamin Rutherford.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Bombard and her husband, Peter. Three granddaughters, Missy Sheloski her husband, Tim, Terri Sawyer her husband, Sheehan and Carilyn Smith and her companion, Sam Baldwin. Numerous great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter and several great great-grandchildren.

She spent 21 years at her dream house on the water, where she met a very special friend who always had a helping hand, Harris Hewitt. She also enjoyed rehabilitating many wildlife and raising her dogs that became her greatest companions.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff on Tower 6 at the Glens Falls Hospital. A special thanks goes out to the Warren Center for the last few months of care they provided.

There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be planned by family at a later time.
