Skoglund
Jul 18, 1936 — Aug 8, 2026
FORT EDWARD --- Betty A. Skoglund, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 following a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's.
Born on July 18th, 1936 in the Bronx. She was the daughter of Victor and Elizabeth (Jones) Branciforti. Betty graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx, New York. Betty married Carl T. Skoglund on July 25th 1954 in Manhattan, at the Little Church Around the Corner. Following Carl's retirement from the NYPD, they bought 28 Acres on the side of a mountain in Lake Luzerne and built their home that they lived in from 1979 to 2006. Betty worked as a nurse aide for Glens Falls hospital for many years. She really loved taking care of people.
Betty enjoyed exercising, being outdoors during every season. She was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet. She loved boat rides on the Sacandaga and Stewart's pond. Camping was enjoyed with her family over the years from Hither Hills, on Long Island to Juniper Springs, Florida. There were so many camping trips that gave the family many fond memories. Walt Disney World was a favorite trip.
Her faith was an important part of who she was. She found strength and comfort in prayer, reading her bible and believing deeply in God's love and the promise for eternal life. That faith carried her through the difficult years of her illness.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Carl T. Skoglund and her son, Christopher Skoglund.
The memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her children Elizabeth Skoglund(New Jersey), Carl J. Skoglund(Florida), Anita Skoglund(New York), Christene (Jonathan) Baker(New York) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were blessed to know her. Though she will be greatly missed, her family takes great comfort in knowing that her faith has brought her home.
