Obituary

Diamond Point - Burton Morehouse peacefully passed away on May 14, 2026 at Glens Falls Hospital with loved ones at his side.

He was born February 7 , 1944, in Glens Falls to Howard B. and Grace E. Morehouse. Burton graduated from Lake George High School in 1962. He attended college for one year at Oswego State University but then decided to follow his passion for nature and the wilderness. Burton was employed by the New York State Conservation Department, working in the Fisheries Division in Warrensburg, NY. He retired after 37 years of service on May 24, 2001.

In his younger days, Burt was a member of the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department as well as serving for one year as Chief. He married the love of his life and his most trusted companion, Rena (Clear) on May 28, 1983. Burt became a 30-year member of the Environmental Conservation Department in 2000.

Burt was known for spending his retirement years antiquing with his children and friends, maintaining that he could never have too many butter churns or milk bottles. He enjoyed his weekly and monthly breakfast get together with his friends and fellow state employees as well as visiting with friends at the Lake George American Legion.

Above all, Burt cherished his family. He is predeceased by his father, Howard B Morehouse; mother, Grace E Morehouse; brother, David Morehouse; companion of 40 years, Rena L. Morehouse and daughter, Stephanie C Parent.

Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Melisa (Mike) Roberts; son, Charles (Natale) Monroe; grandchildren, Jamie Roberts, Jacob Monroe, Desiree Monroe, Zachary Monroe and Maverick Monroe; as well as great granddaughter, Zoelle Ellerbee.

Calling hours will be from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY 12804. A short service will be held directly following the calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in August 2026 at the Bolton Conservation Center.
