Carol E.
Clark
Dec 25, 1937 — Apr 20, 2021
On April 20, 2021, Carol Elizabeth Clark (Brady) 83, formerly of Richfield Springs, NY, Stillwater, NY, and Brewster, MA, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Stephen, and daughter in law Denise, in Lake George, NY.
Carol was born on Christmas Day 1937 in Richfield Springs, NY to Helen (Ryan) Brady and Owen Brady. She graduated from Richfield Springs High School in 1955 where she participated in cheerleading, drama, choral ensembles, student government and was chosen prom queen. Following high school, she attended Danbury Teacher's College, earning her BA in Education. She then earned her Masters' degree from SUNY Oneonta.
In 1962, Carol went on a double date with John (Pete) Clark, a fellow graduate of Richfield Springs. Pete and Carol had a true love story, marrying only four months after that double date. They remained married until Pete's death on October 1, 2005.
As an elementary school teacher in several schools for many years, Carol was a caring, creative, and skilled teacher who was adored by her students. Following retirement, she and Pete moved to Cape Cod where they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Carol loved music of all types. She was also passionate about the performing arts and loved attending ballets, plays, musicals, and concerts. She was an avid reader, walker, bicyclist and dancer.
Carol was predeceased by three siblings, Michael Brady (Barbara), Owen Patrick Brady (Hope) and baby brother Mark. She is survived by her sister, Kathy Gilmore (David), of Jacksonville, Florida, and her children, John (Maria) of Valatie, NY, Stephen (Denise) of Lake George, NY, and Kate Mahoney (Sean) of Arlington, MA. She was the beloved grandmother to Karen Zenilman (Elliot), Kevin Clark (Olha), Jack Clark, Thomas Clark, Sarah Conyers (Darrell), Margaret Blish (Shane), and Regina Clark. She was the beloved great-grandmother to Parker, Sam, Maddie, Regina, and Declan, and the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren will fondly remember their grandmother for her constant love and kindness and the Thanksgiving plays that she wrote, directed and costumed.
The family extends grateful thanks to Steve and Denise Clark for providing a warm and loving home to Carol during the last year of her life. She loved resting in her comfortable room, listening to Steve play the guitar, sitting on the deck, and dancing with Denise. We are forever grateful.
Carol found great comfort in attending Mass with her family. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Richfield Springs, NY, on May 20, 2021 at 10am. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
