Carol A.
Firth
Dec 29, 1942 — Oct 17, 2023
MOREAU---Carol A. (Smith) Firth, 80, died peacefully on Oct.17, 2023, at her home with family at her side. She was born December 1942 in Glens Falls to Malcolm Smith and Virginia Sullivan.
Carol attended and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls. During high school she was a cheerleader and played on the bowling and basketball team. It was at St. Mary's that she met and dated her future husband.
Following graduation Carol attended Cardinal Cushing College in Boston, MA where she earned an associate degree in medical technology in 1963. Following college, she was employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston and later returned to Glens Falls and worked at MTI (now Plug Power) in Latham, NY.
In August 1965, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Peter Firth. They were blessed with five children which Carol delighted in raising and nurturing. She enjoyed cheering her children at sporting events, playing cards, and socializing with neighbors and friends. She loved dogs, cats and at least one hermit crab.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and her stepfather, Lonnie Pollard, her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis, and Diane Smith, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Peter A. Firth and her devoted children: Andrew of Argyle, NY, Marysusan Mardigian (John) of Latham, NY, Patrick (Leslie) of Cicero, NY, James (Jennifer) of Hamburg, NY, and William (Dianna) of Latham, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joel, Nolan, Shea, Logan, Elliott, Charles and Andrew, as well as several cousins.
Carol loved her chosen profession of wife, mother, and domestic engineer. Her faith and love of family served her and the family well.
At Carol's request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral Mass and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers Carol felt a better gesture would be a donation to one of these beneficiaries:
