South Glens Falls-Heaven gained a special angel on the morning of June 20, 2012.
Carol Jean Howard, 57, of Lamplighter Acres and most recently of Fort Hudson Nursing Home was greeted into the arms of her proud parents, Donald and Jean Howard, passing away from Glens Falls Hospital with her loving siblings by her side.
Carol was born February 8, 1955 at Glens Falls Hospital, the daughter of the late Donald and Jean (O'Pray) Howard Sr.
In her younger years, Carol graduated from B.O.C.E.S. and for a short time worked at the Community Workshop. She was also active in the ARC Fun Club.
Most recently, while at Fort Hudson where she was shown much love by many, Carol enjoyed playing Bingo especially with her two friends, Lou and Gail. She also looked forward to boat rides on Lake George, game night, and visits from her family and many friends. Carol gave much joy and happiness to everyone who knew her. She touched the hearts of many, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her three sisters, Donna Farr and her husband, David, of South Glens Falls, Patricia Sullivan and her husband, Thomas, of Glens Falls, Marlo Peters and her husband, Reggie, of Fort Edward; two brothers, Robert Howard and his wife, Linda, of Glens Falls, and Donald Howard II and his companion, Evelyn Barlow, of Glens Falls; 13 nieces and nephews, Debbie, Terry, Meaghan, Jessica, Rachael, Jean, Tami, Brian, Tom, Matt, Derek, Donnie, and Caitlin; 14 grand nieces and nephews; one aunt, Patricia Slavin and her husband, Gene; two uncles, David Howard and his wife, Jackie, and Bill O'Pray; several cousins, and many many dear friends.
Friends may call upon the family Friday, June 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 23, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls, with The Rev. Joseph Manerowski, officiating.
Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
Donations, in loving memory of Carol, may be made to the Fort Hudson Activities Fund, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
Her family wishes to express their gratitude to her friends and staff at Fort Hudson where she received excellent love and care while she was a resident for 15 months. They would also like to thank the staff in Critical Care at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassion and quality of care shown to Carol and her family.
