QUEENSBURY – Carolyn M. Melito, 79, of Queensbury, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at her home with her family at her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Carol was born to Frederick and Margaret Fisher on July 7, 1934 in Freeport, Long Island.
Graduating from W.C. Mepham High School in Bellmore, Long Island she later worked at the N.Y. Journal American and Associated Aviation in Manhattan.
On April 8, 1956 she married Joseph Melito and happily raised their sons together in Rensselaerville, N.Y. before relocating to Queensbury, N.Y.
Carol loved reading history, biography and cook books. She took great pride in visiting with her family & close friends, enjoying the sunshine poolside at eldest son Christopher's home, and helping her younger son Eric at various northeast craft shows & festivals.
For many years she helped out at the Moreau Community Center Meal Site wherever assistance was needed.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joseph; sister, Virginia; sons, Christopher (Kristine) and Eric (Lois); granddaughters, Jade, Nicole and Carol; nephew, James; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Clare; and her 'other boys', Jayme and Dave.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 2, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, March 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Smith, Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
A burial will immediately follow the service at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, N.Y.
