Catherine Anne
Potter
Dec 30, 1960 — Oct 9, 2024
Catherine Anne Cozzens-Potter, 63 of Ballston Spa, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in her home surrounded by family, after a 34-year battle with cancer.
Cathy was born in Glasgow to Stuart and Margaret (Pearl) Leleux as a direct descendant of William Wallace.
She gained her associate's degree in criminal justice and became a New York State Court officer where she retired from in 2022. She married Kevin E. Potter in October 2011, and since that day, the adventures and fun never stopped. Kevin and Cathy's love for each other was one for the books, and end-goals for many.
She enjoyed going on long scenic drives, adventures, searching for covered bridges, lobster in Maine and spending time with her family. Her love for life and adventures was paralleled only by her love for her family. On any day you could find her puttering in her garden, playing practical jokes, watching the Buffalo Bills, crafting/decorating, cooking for family dinner, or spoiling her grandchildren, which was her true joy in life.
Cathy is the mother of Danielle and Nicole Cozzens, whom she loved with all she had. Whether it was sending care packages while Nicole was deployed, or talking gardening with Danielle, her girls were always on her mind. Her love and light filled any and every room she walked into. If you ask any of her friends, she was the life of the party, the trickster and the most caring person they knew. Whether it was stink bombs, silly costumes, "no breaking the rules", 80s music dance parties, falling in ditches, or being chased with the girls' husky KeirraMae by a swarm of yellowjackets, she lived every second of life to the fullest. Her ferocity for life and love far outweighed her diagnosis and she fought a true Scottish warrior's fight until the end. Her love, caring nature, determination and silly demeanor will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The impact on the lives she touched will be forever remembered and this world is a little darker without her in it. Cathy will remain in our hearts forever.
Cathy was predeceased by her mother Margaret, her father Stuart, her daughter's father John, sister-in-law Laurie and her life-long best friend Helen (Nell). Cathy is survived by her loving husband Kevin, daughters Nicole & Danielle (Joe), stepchildren Morgan (Kyle), Amanda (Stephen), and Jordan, and her grandchildren Cooper John, Mason Peter, Henry Michael, Nora, Kayson, Manny and Emmy.
