QUEENSBURY --- Catherine Fettig Thompson, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 19, 2017.

Born February 6, 1938 in Melrose, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Catherine (Murphy) Fettig.

Catherine retired as a high school math teacher at Hoosic Valley Central School in 1995. Following her teaching career, she worked at NYSUT as an Information Technologist for seven years.

She was active in charity work including Meals on Wheels delivery, Salvation Army and Family Services of Glens Falls. She was particularly proud of her connection with Habitat for Humanity, where she served five years as the Volunteer Coordinator. Her dear friends from the Handy Girl's Club resulted from her work at Habitat.

Catherine was a member of the PEO, Professional Educators Organization, and New York State Retired Teacher Association.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her first husband, Francis "Bucky" Thompson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald L. Bernhoft of Queensbury; son, Joseph O. (Linda) Thompson of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Joceline Thompson of Coloma, CA; and stepdaughters, Nancy Grace of Raleigh, NC and Jane (Eric) Figueroa of Schenectady, NY.

Calling hours have been revised to 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 22, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Jean De Baptiste Cemetery, 968 Spring Ave., Troy, NY.
