Obituary

GLENS FALLS-SFC Charles J. Maxwell, 55, of Knight Street, Glens Falls, sadly passed away with his loving wife at his side at Glens Falls Hospital on Saturday, December 30, 2017 due to injuries he attained from a fall.

The son of the late Fred T. Maxwell and Marie E. (Guyette) Maxwell, Charles was born October 28, 1962 in Glens Falls. He graduated in 1980 from Glens Falls High School, attended Oswego College, and joined the United States Army in 1986 where he proudly served his country for over 20 years as a Combat Engineer before retiring in May 2007. Among his many duty stations, he served in Germany, Desert Storm, Kosovo, and Korea. He was decorated with many service medals during his career including the National Defense, South West Asia, Global War on Terrorism, Humanitarian, Korea Defense and many others. Charles also had many state side assignments including Fort Irwin, California where he met his wonderful wife Michele. They were married on October 22, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Following retirement from the US army, Charles moved back to Glens Falls and went to work in Saratoga for the New York State Gaming Commission as a security guard. Charles love to fish, work in his garden, barbeque and have picnics, and spend time with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Michele Maxwell, his brothers William Maxwell of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Thomas Maxwell of Schenectady, and his sister Mary Anne Hilder of Lake George, along with five nephews Thomas, Matthew, Christopher, Adam, and Sean, and many friends he had made throughout his life.

Friends may call upon the family Wednesday, January 3 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the funeral service following at 4 p.m. at Baker Funeral home, 11 Lafayette St, Queensbury, with the Rev. John Chamberlain, officiating.
