QUEENSBURY --- Claire "Clara" Anunziato, 93, of Queensbury, and most recently of Fort Edward, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Ft. Hudson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ft. Edward.
Born July 24, 1920, in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Nicoletta and Raffaele Saccoccio.
Clara found joy in taking care of her family, cooking, animals, she loved babies and spending time with her family. Clara also had a "green thumb" and loved flowers and gardening. While raising her two daughters, she always encouraged them to be independent. Clara was very simple in her lifestyle, quiet and always peaceful.
She met Salvatore "Sal" Anunziato through her brother, Thomas, who was his best friend. They were engaged for five years before getting married Oct. 28, 1945 at St. Peter's and Paul's Church in the Bronx. They had two daughters, Catherine and Linda, and enjoyed family trips to Lake George, prompting them to move to Queensbury in 1990. They also enjoyed spending time together as a family, leaving behind a rich legacy of memories before Sal passed away July 27, 2006.
In addition to her parents, whom she cared for until their passing, and her husband of 61 years, Salvatore Anunziato, Clara was predeceased by four sisters, Aggie, Lucy, Stella, and Sylvia; two brothers, Tommy and Alex.
Survivors include her two loving daughters, Catherine Maccagnano and Linda Anunziato, both of Queensbury; two grandsons, Troy Thomas Maccagnano, and Raffaele Sanchez-Anunziato, both of Queensbury; her three godchildren, Paul Saccoccio, Billy DeCicco, and Holly Saccoccio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no calling hours.
