Obituary

QUEENSBURY – Clay A. Beaudet, 76, of Rhode Island Ave. and formerly of Lake George, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at his home.

Born July 5, 1940 in Glens Falls, NY he was the son of Julian F. Beaudet and Mildred Tripp Beaudet Kay.

Clay was a 1958 graduate of Lake George Central High. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corp. where he served from January 1959 to January 1963.

After his services to his country, Clay worked as a painter. He became an EMT for Lake George Emergency Squad and also became a volunteer fireman for the Lake George Fire Department.

It was only a short time until Clay pursued a new career in law enforcement. He started as a patrolman and moved up the ranks becoming Police Chief for the Village of Lake George, serving until 1981.

For the next 30 years Clay worked for Fregoe Construction and eventually D.E.C. as Recreational Park Aid at Hearthstone Park, Lake George.

Clay enjoyed being involved with community services. He had served as President for the Lake George Winter Carnival, famously known as "Herman the Hobo".

He served as past commander of the American Legion Post No. 374, among other offices he held in the post, was a member of the PBA, B.P.O.E., and Marine Corp. League – Toys for Tots.

Clay enjoyed many things in life including fishing and hunting (especially with his brother Ted Beaudet), drawing, puzzles, reading, and watching baseball.

Along with his parents, Clay was predeceased by his first love and mother of his children, Androneke "Andy" Fish Beaudet and his son, Mark F. Beaudet.

He is survived by those who loved him most: his daughter, Angela K. Beaudet (Gary) Vernum of Lake George; his two sons, Clay F. Beaudet of Kingsport, Tn., and Theodore S. (Sondra) Beaudet of Thurman, NY; his seven grandchildren, Alicia Vernum (Peter) Hanten, James R. Vernum, Airman Joseph M. Vernum, Kristi-Lin (Josh) Clark, Kyle Beaudet, David E. Beaudet, Zachary M. Beaudet; seven great- grandchildren; his sister, June A. Beaudet of Santa Monica, Ca.; two brothers, Fred (Jeanette) Beaudet of Burlington, NC and Theodore (Sue) Beaudet of Lake Luzerne, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, July 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 30 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. Lake George Fire Department, B.P.O.E., and Lake George American Legion Post No. 374 will be present to honor of their friend and member.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Bazinet officiating.

Following the service, a procession will be led by the Patriot Guard Riders of N.Y. to a graveside service with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George. Bagpipes will be performed by Jerry Cashion.
