QUEENSBURY --- Constance Marie Gardner, 75, of Fitzgerald Rd., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 in the comfort of her home with her son, Brett, by her side.
Born July 18, 1941 in Long Island on Mitchel Air Force Base, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon and Martha (Seeberger) Toomer.
Connie attended Altamont High School in Guilderland.
On May 3, 1958, Connie married John W. Gardner Jr. at Christ the King Church in Albany.
Some of her enjoyments included traveling, boating, horses, Elvis, and above all, she loved being with her family. Her passion for kindness towards everyone and everything was undeniable, and her amazing ability to remember everyone's birthdays was a genuine gift. Raising her three children was most important to her. Getting enjoyment out of the simple things in life was most easily achieved with a Manhattan, an Elvis CD, and some chocolate ice cream. She worked side by side with her husband running the Glen Drive-In Movie Theatre for decades; building up movies, fixing speakers, selling tickets, etc., until the age of 70, when her Parkinson's Disease stopped her from working. To this day, people still miss her warm greeting at the box office. Trump, Trump, Trump!
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John W. Gardner Jr., who passed away Sept. 29, 2015, and a brother, Gary Toomer.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Brett A. Gardner of Queensbury, John W. Gardner III of Pampano Beach, Fla., and Cherrie Miller of Allentown, Penn.; four grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Sarah, and Elizabeth "Miller's"; two brothers, Sheldon Toomer of Calif., and Edward Toomer of Guilderland; her best friend, Claudia Zack; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special pet, Copper.
Calling hours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 26, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor of Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, officiating.
Interment next to her husband will follow at Pine View Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Tina Fox Merchant for not only being a caring aide but a great friend to Connie as well.
Condolences and floral bouquets may be sent directly to the funeral home, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
