QUEENSBURY – Craig Matthew Duell, 50, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Craig was born Aug. 11, 1964 in Corinth to the late Claude and Bert (Scoville) Duell. He graduated from Queensbury High School and BOCES in 1982.
During and after high school, Craig worked as a meat cutter at Sokols Market before moving on to Finch Pruyn and later Irving Tissue. Most recently he worked at Hannaford as a meat cutter once again.
Craig's enjoyments were many. He loved to do anything in the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, boating, kayaking, traveling, gardening, and riding his dad's Harley Davidson. One very memorable trip to Alaska, Craig caught a halibut that was larger than him, weighing in at 153 lbs.!!! He was also proud of the fact that he shot a bear. Another unforgettable hunting story was when Craig and his best friend, Kevvy Matuzak, both shot a deer at the same time - never knowing who took the fatal shot. He was a handy man, always working on a project. He also loved cooking and would eat just about anything. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
On June 4, 2011, Craig married his loving wife, Colleen (Cogovan) at the Hudson River Park in Queensbury.
Craig was predeceased by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Anna Duell, and maternal grandparents, Herold and Alice Scoville.
Left to cherish his memory along with his wife, Colleen Cogovan-Duell, are his sister, Crystal Akins and her husband, Todd, of Queensbury, his nephew, Clifford Akins, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many close friends.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
