Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Crystal M. Akins, 61, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer due to complications from surgery.

Born July 3, 1962, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Claude and Bert (Scoville) Duell.

Crystal graduated from Queensbury High School in 1980 and went on to attend college at SUNY Adirondack. She worked for Sokols Food Market and Native Textiles, and was a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

She married Todd C. Akins in 1999 in Queensbury.

Crystal enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, riding in cool cars, water skiing, birdwatching, spending time with family, and watching her son grow up.

In addition to her parents, Crystal was predeceased by her brother, Craig Duell; and her beloved dog, Cassie.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Todd C. Akins; son, Clifford T. (Adriana R.) Akins; aunts, Susan Duell and Carol; uncle, Wick McDonald; sister-in-law, Colleen Duell; cousin, Monica Young and her family; best friends, Colleen Rich and Tanya Liebl; and beloved dogs, Ozlo and Darla.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. on Route 4, Fort Ann. For details, contact Todd or CT.

Crystal filled her 14 years following her double lung transplant with lots of love, laughter, and joy. Even though Crystal battled with Type 1 Diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis from a very young age, she always was positive in every situation. Her smile, laugh, positivity and compassion will be greatly missed. We love you, Crystal.
