GLENS FALLS --- David F. Beaupre Jr., 78, of Ridge St., Glens Falls, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born July 11, 1936 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late David F. and Lorraine (Rivers) Beaupre Sr.
David worked at Native Textiles in Glens Falls for 43 years working his way up from a knitting machinist to Superintendent.
In 1953, he married Mary L. Girard at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls where they were members for many years. Most recently, they attended St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed wood carving. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and vacationing at Maine.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a sister, Louise Flemming, a brother, Joseph Beaupre, two grandchildren, Steven and Scott Nicholson, and two great-grandchildren, Teddy and Alexis Nicholson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Beaupre of Glens Falls; five children, David (Margaret) Beaupre of Georgia, Ann (Harold) Nicholson of Gansevoort, Judi (Mark) Cleveland of South Glens Falls, Mary Beth (Doug) Gaulin of Queensbury, and Renee (Tim) Rupeka of Tenn.; his ten loving grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Stanley of Fort Ann; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At his request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church with the Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
David's family wishes to thank Stephanie, Patti, and Fran from the A-wing at Fort Hudson Nursing Home and all who treated Dave with kindness and love.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be greatly appreciated by the family.
