Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- David A. "Jonesey" Jones, 63, of Queensbury, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital, due to complications following multiple surgeries.
Born Nov. 17, 1949 in Pittsfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Alan and Edith (Roberts) Jones.
Jonesey graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1967.
On April 12, 1997, he married Michelle M. Brockway at South Queensbury Firehouse.
For twenty years, he worked at Ciba-Geigy as a lab technician.
Jonesey was a life member and Past Fire Chief for over eighteen years for South Queensbury Vol. Fire Co. As an active member, he helped with Fire Dept. fundraisers at the annual Balloon Festival and was the originator of the annual chicken barbeque at the Fire House. Jonesey was also a life member of B.P.O.E. No. 81, where he progressed through the chairs of the organization all the way to Exalted Ruler from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2010 to 2011.
You could find Jonesey at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at B.P.O.E Lodge No. 81 enjoying his coffee break, as well as 8 a.m. at Stewarts' for coffee and bagel breaks on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He enjoyed playing Power Ball and Mega Millions, Wednesdays and Saturdays were NYS lotto days. On Mon, Wed & Friday at the Broad St. Renal Center, No alarm clock on Sunday's..it was his day to sleep in.
In his younger days, Jonesey liked to go coon hunting and enjoyed the Adirondack Red Wings Hockey games.
Some of his more recent enjoyments included watching the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Braves, and calling and talking to his buddy, Alex, and taking his grandkids to the ice cream shop.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, David "Mike" Jones, sister, Marilyn Thomas, father-in-law, Lewis Brockway, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Michelle Jones of Queensbury; two children, Jason Boyer and his wife, Corina of Hudson Falls, Justin Boyer and his wife, Amanda of Hudson Falls; 8 grandchildren, Bradford, Alexander, Kayelee, Madalyn, Lauren, Lewis, Shianne, and Seairra; mother-in-law, Audrey Brockway and her significant other Ed of Hudson Falls; brothers-in-law, Barry Brockway of Hudson Falls, Brian Brockway and his wife Donna of Hudson Falls; a niece, Amanda Brockway and her fiancé, Justin, of Ft. Edward; and great nephew, Aden;
A brother-in-law Lee Thomas of Granville, nieces: Beth Goodspeed and her husband Kevin, and their children, Kevin Jr., Seth, and Travis, all of Granville, and Sheri Thomas, also of Granville; nephews: Kenny Thomas and his significant other, Sue, and their children, Taylor, Ridge, and Katarina of Granville, and David Thomas and his wife, Heather, and their children, DJ, Russell, and Ryan, all of Granville; and many friends.
Friends may call upon the family Sunday, April 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 81 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow in David's Honor at 2:30 p.m., and local Fire Department Services will also conduct a brief ceremony at 3 p.m. during the calling hours.
A calling hour will also be held Monday, April 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Chet South and John Kassebaum officiating. Pall Bearers will be members of Dave's family. Alex Boyer will be the Honorary Pall Bearer.
Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.
A gathering to celebrate Dave's life will follow April 15, at 1 p.m. at West Glens Falls Fire House Station 1, Luzerne Rd, West Glens Falls.
