Queensbury - A wonderful man, Donald W. Roth Jr., 59, peacefully passed at home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was a beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Don was born January 18, 1955, in Lowville, New York to MaryAnn (Buckingham) and Donald W. Roth Sr. He graduated from Maple Hill High School, Siena College and received his Masters in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.). Don was a banker his entire working career, he had been with the TD Bank in Glens Falls for over 21 years as Vice President of Commercial Loans.
Always a community minded person, Don served on numerous local boards through the years; an active Kiwanis member for 21 years, serving as president in 2009-10. Don found his true passion for fly-fishing about five years ago and traveled many rivers and streams in the Midwest, Maine and locally. An outdoors lover, if not fishing he could be found canoeing, hunting, hiking or cross-country skiing. He became an Adirondack 46er in 2001.
Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother-in-law Dana Delahoy.
In 2002 Don married his sole-mate Jean (Delahoy-Swanson) Roth, they both enjoyed many trips abroad to Mexico, Belgium, Puerto Rico, China and the Midwest states to enjoy the Colorado Mountains, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone parks.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jean of Queensbury NY; his two beautiful daughters, Meghan (Michael) McNeill of Buffalo NY and Melissa Roth of Glen Spey NY; three great stepchildren Kristine (Buck) Seekings of Ashville NY , Kelly Swanson of Mahopac NY, and Kai Swanson of Queensbury NY. A brother Steven (Gale) Roth of Castleton NY, two brothers-in-law, David (Jerri) Delahoy, Dennis (Annette) Delahoy, two sisters-in-law, Diana Bayette and Janice (Brian) Franklin, as well as three special granddaughters Riley, Arianna and Averie Seekings.
Family and friends are invited to attend his calling hours at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at New Hope Community Church, 454 Corinth Road, Queensbury NY, all are welcome.
Interment will be at a later date in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Bremen NY.
