FUNERAL NOTICE UPDATE - A graveside service for Doreen A. Koch will take place at noon on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George.

HUDSON FALLS --- Rev. Doreen A. Koch, 73, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 26, 2016 at the home of her daughter in the company of loved ones.

Born March 3, 1943 in Lake George, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Wolf) Koch.

Doreen was a graduate of Lake George High School, and later was ordained as a Reverend.

For 23 years, she proudly operated Cornerstone Soup Kitchen in Hudson Falls, where she spent all her efforts serving God through helping the less fortunate.

Some of her enjoyments included cooking, gardening, and decorating for the holidays. She loved her dog, Misty Rose, and spending time with her family. Doreen gave to others unselfishly for many years. She served meals and had a food pantry located in the building where she resided. Doreen felt great pride in showing off her beautiful flowers and helped beautify the area! Holidays were of much joy to Doreen. She loved displaying many lights and had a huge spirit. Her spirit will live on in all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Doreen was predeceased by three brothers, Tom and Kenneth Koch, and Joe DeGrass, and her step-father, Gilbert Herwerth.

Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Jody Mendoza of Texas, Janet Finkle of Glens Falls, and Jacqueline (Robert) Barker of Glens Falls; seven grandchildren, Kenneth and Brittany Wood, Juan, Megan, Marissa, Mallory, and Jordan Mendoza; one great-grandchild, Aubrey J. Wood; a sister, Joan Maynard of Arkansas; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and her beloved dog, Misty Rose.

Calling hours will take place Thursday, Dec. 29, from noon to 2 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Outreach Center, 1767 State Route 196, Ft. Edward, with the Rev. Vern Collier officiating.

A private graveside service will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and staff at C. R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, especially Dr. Pillemer, and nurses Steve Moran and Nikole Molinero, for their special care and attention.
