QUEENSBURY --- Doris
Myra Morrissey, 86, a resident of Cedars, 35 Evergreen
Lane, Queensbury, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012. Born April 16, 1926 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of Lewis Wood and Olga (Kruger)
Wood LaVoy.
Doris has now been re-united with her loving husband
Wesley A. of 50 years who passed away in 1993 and her daughter Bonnie J. Girard who passed away in 2008.
She worked many years for the Grand Union Company
retiring at age 75.
Doris enjoyed playing
cards with her many friends, traveling and line dancing, especially with her sister. She enjoyed helping the girls in the kitchen at the Cedars where meals were prepared for Meals on Wheels.
She also enjoyed volunteering
at Westmount Health Facility helping the residents play bingo and wheelchair square dancing as well as helping with the grandparents' breakfast at the Queensbury Elementary
School. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or give a lift to any of her friends.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Tucker of Queensbury; one daughter, Arlene D. Schmidt and Albert
of Ballston Spa; one son, James N. Morrissey and Susan of Lancaster, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Tamara
Brognano and Joseph of New Paltz, Ian Widrick of Ballston Spa, Chris Morrissey
and Erin of Thousand
Oaks, Calif., Chad Morrissey and Malinda of Chicago, Ill., Jennifer Morrissey
of Syracuse, Michael Girard and Kim of Glens Falls, Valerie Hamilton and Dave of Blaine, Washington, Timothy Girard and Erin of Baltimore, Md.; son-in-law, Mike Girard of Glens Falls; several nieces and nephews and many friends. One of Doris's many enjoyments
was spending time not only with her grandchildren
but spending precious
time with her nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call upon the family from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday,
June 25, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, followed
by an 11 a.m. funeral service at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, with Rev. Patti Girard officiating.
Burial will follow at the Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
