QUEENSBURY --- Dorothy "Darlene" Thatcher, 52, of Burch Rd., Queensbury, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born April 18, 1961 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late William and Meredith (Graves) Thatcher.
Darlene loved all aspects of life and had a great joy for the outdoors. She also liked to take long trips and spent much time cleaning, knitting, and cooking. She was proud to be an organ donor, which her desire has now been fulfilled.
She is survived by her long time companion, Burt Durkee. She was the loving mother of two children, Ashley Wood of Albany, and Daniel Wood and his fiancée, Crystal Willoughby, of Queensbury; three grandchildren, Daniel A. Wood III, Hayden T. Wood, and Deja K. Brown; two sisters, Sharon Maul of Gansevoort, and Sonia Harder and her husband, Ed, of Lake Luzerne; one brother, William Thatcher and his wife, Linda, of Queensbury, six nieces; two nephews; several great nieces, great nephews, many cousins, and dear friends.
Friends may call upon the family Thursday, Dec. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, and doctors and staff at Glens Falls Hospital, with special mention of the fabulous critical care team.
