Dorothy
Weller
Sep 25, 1927 — Jul 3, 2020
GLENS FALLS--- Dorothy "Dottie" May Lewis was born September 25, 1927 in Bethlehem, PA. She passed quietly at Saratoga Center for Rehab & Skilled Nursing Care in Ballston Spa on July 3, 2020. She was born in Bethlehem, PA, and baptized at the Zion Reformed Church in Allentown, PA. After moving to Glens Falls, NY, she met and married the love of her life, Donald I. Weller. Dottie worked at Queensbury Hotel where she met Bela Lugosi, and then at Native Textiles before her retirement. She is survived by Granddaughters Angela and Boni Weller, four great-grandchildren Reginald Peterson (and Kayla), Rhianna Lamontain, Rythm Ogburn, Aura-Empress Weller, and one great-great-grandchild Leo Peterson.
A former resident of Stitchman Towers in Glens Falls, she would regularly be seen at all the bingo halls in the area. Dottie was a lover of bingo and continued to play every opportunity she could. Nothing excited more than a visit from her family, or a chance to play with and feed the puppies that would visit her. Whether it was the many solar toys that decorated her window, the candy she shared with the staff, or the sparkling jewelry that she wore, she always found a way to brighten everyone's day. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
She will be buried at Moss St. Cemetery in Hudson Falls on Friday, July 10 th at noon.
"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built, or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way, so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there. It doesn't matter what you do, he said, so as long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away."
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
