QUEENSBURY — Douglas K. Persons, 80, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, August 14, 2018.

A quiet and kind man, Doug had a smile that could light up a room. He was a talented storyteller and often shared fond memories of growing up in upstate New York with family and friends. Over the years, Doug's love of music inspired him to learn to play many instruments by ear. He was an avid hockey fan and NASCAR enthusiast. In his retirement he enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and camping. Doug particularly loved hiking in Pharaoh Lake, and the fly-in camping and fishing trips he took with his son Mike and his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Arlene (Frank) Tarullo; brother, Donald (Ruth) Persons; his niece, Deborah; and bother-in-law Richard Tuttle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Arleene (Washburn) Persons of Queensbury; a daughter, Michele and her husband, Richard of Saratoga Springs; a son, Michael and his wife, Cathy of Livermore, CO, and a son, Monty of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughters, Melinda (Jason) Winters of Whitehall, Kara (Aaron) Egan of Burnt Hills, Dr. Christie (Matthew Kuenzel) Babson of Providence, RI, Nicole (Ryan) Corry of Calgary, BC; grandsons, Nathaniel (Allison) Persons of Boulder, CO and Eric Dowd of Troy. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jase, Ryder, Olivia, Kennedy, Madigan, Grayson and Frances; a sister, Joyce Larkin of Brooklyn, OH; sister-in-law, Joan Tuttle of Warrensburg; nephews, Richard (Toni) Tuttle Jr. and Dale (Colleen Brainard) Tuttle; and great nephews, Christian and Connor.
Doug's family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at The Glens Falls Hospital, who helped with his care over the last 17 years. They would also like to thank neighbors John and Roberta Beaudette for all of their support.
