Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Douglas Ryan Purner, Sr., 65, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Born November 2, 1959 in Glens Falls, New York he was the son of Thomas D. and Arline M. (Farr) Purner.

Douglas attended Glens Falls High School and graduated in the class of 1978. He then went on to graduate from SUNY Adirondack Community College in the class of 1991 from technical drafting.

Douglas proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force as an Airman and Pilot from 1977 until 1982.

In 1979 Douglas married his first wife, Carla (Hart) Purner, and they were married until 1989. In 1990, he married Lori Dilorenzo, and they were married until 2001.

Douglas worked for Verizon for 25 years as a field technician and a lineman. He enjoyed doing many things outside of his employment like visiting his camp in the woods of the Adirondacks and going out on his boat. Douglas was a member of the local VFW Post 6196 which he visited frequently, Northway Hunt Club, NRA, and St. Alphonsus. He loved his family and friends very much, especially spending time with them, he was a phenomenal father to his children and an even better grandfather.

Douglas is predeceased by his father, Thomas D. Purner.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Arline M. (Farr) Purner; companion, Carole Moses of East Dr., Queensbury; children, Douglas Purner, Jr., Amy Purner, Sean Purner, Benjamin Purner, Dylan Purner, and stepdaughter Melissa St. John; siblings, Thomas Purner, Jr.  of Glens Falls, Pamela and John Olden of Queensbury, Nancy and Rusty Saunders of Saratoga, and Anne-Marie Denard of Glens Falls; grandchildren, Alyse Purner (Brown), Alivia Purner (Brown) of Glens Falls, Paisley Sharrow, Appleonia Girard of Lake George, and Hunter St. John of Hampton; nieces and nephews, Nick and Shelby Olden, Christopher Olden, Lauren Denard, Abby Saunders; many great nieces and nephews; as well as many extended family members.

Douglas was loved very much and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will take place Monday, June 23, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of The Annunciation Church, 448 Aviation Road, Queensbury, New York 12804 with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, 52 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, New York 12804.

A gathering will be held after the graveside.
