BOLTON LANDING --- Douglas G. Zill, 74, of Stewart Ave., Bolton Landing, passed away Friday night, July 20, 2012 at Albany County Nursing Home, following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 12, 1938 in Ann Arbor, Mich., he was the son of the late John and Frances (Northrup) Zill.
Doug enlisted in the United States Navy Sept. of 1956, serving during the Vietnam Era, and being honorably discharged April 24, 1963.
He resided in Bolton Landing and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Ann Zill in 2000.
Survivors include his son, Paul Zill of Mich.; his longtime best friend and companion, and her family, Lori Chamberlain of Greenfield Center; Rev. Flossie Gage Bates and her family of Queensbury; dear friend, Perry Frasier of Bolton Landing; and many other dear friends.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or memorial services.
A graveside ceremony, with military honors, will be held, Thursday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville, with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
