WAKE FOREST, N.C. -- Edward George Anagnos, 79, died peacefully on October 20, 2016 at home with his loving wife at his side.
Edward was born in Newark, NJ on November 2, 1936. He met his wife, Carol Kieffer, when they were in high school and they married in 1958.
Ed was a firefighter in Springfield, NJ for 25 years. Upon his retirement, he and Carol moved to upstate New York building a home in Queensbury. In 2005 they built their dream home in Lake George, NY. After many years of spending their winters in Naples, Florida they moved there in 2012. In 2016 they decided to relocate to Wake Forest, NC to be near family.
Ed and Carol loved traveling and enjoyed many cruises, especially those spent with their family. They also enjoyed many years of boating on Lake George.
Ed served in the NJ National Guard for eight years and was a member of the Lake George Chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
Throughout his life, Ed showed unconditional love to his wife and family. He was an extraordinary husband and father and will be greatly missed by them all.
He is survived by the love of his life, Carol and their children, Donna Waynor and her husband, Kevin, James Anagnos and his wife, Eve, and Linda Oswald and her husband, Jeffrey. He was a very proud grandfather of Kaitlyn and Thomas Oswald, Nicholas Anagnos and Hailey Waynor.
At Ed's request, no visiting hours are planned.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Lake George with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
In lieu of flowers a remembrance may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th floor, New York, NY 10004 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
