Edward And
Justeen Weller
Nov 19, 1927 — Feb 1, 2014
GLENS FALLS – Edward S. Weller, 86, of Glens Falls, passed away Feb. 1, 2014 after a heroic battle with liver cancer. He's rejoicing now in Jesus' presence with his wife, Justeen M. Weller, who passed away June 13 of 2011.
Edward was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Glens Falls, son of the late Frank and Mary C. (Hermance) Weller. In Feb. 1946, Edward joined the United States Army as a private and served in WWII, Japan, as a Tec Sgt 4 Cook before his honorable discharge in 1947, when he received a WWII Victory Medal. He later worked 32 years as a self employed carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Union No. 229 in Albany, NY. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. in Glens Falls. Edward was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and uncle; he often enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Justeen was born March 15, 1931 in Glens Falls, daughter of the late Henry and Grace Peters. Justeen worked for Scott Paper in Ft. Edward and Valcour in Glens Falls until she retired in 1994. Justeen loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother and an aunt.
Edward and Justeen were married at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls, June 28, 1953. Together they happily raised three sons, Carl, David and Daniel. They were married almost 58 years when Justeen passed.
Edward and Justeen spent time enjoying long walks; bowling; and singing the "oldies" at the Elks club, a place they visited often. They were family oriented people, spending a happy life together. Ed and Justeen traveled often and enjoyed time spent in Maine; Cape Cod; Myrtle Beach, SC; and many other trips, especially to the ocean.
Devoted Christians, both Edward and Justeen loved Jesus and showed His love by caring for and cheerfully encouraging so many people in their lives.
Along with their parents, Edward and Justeen were predeceased by several family members including Edwards's brother, Frank "Bud" Weller; Edward's sisters: Jean Weller and Judy Copper; Justeen's brothers: Reginald, Ralph, and Leon Peters; and Justeen's sisters: Teresa Davis and Joyce Normandin.
Left to cherish their memories are three sons, Carl Weller and his wife, Carron, of Columbia, SC; David Weller of Glens Falls, NY; and Dan Weller and his wife, Kitty, of Glens Falls, NY; also one grandson, Justin Weller of Columbia, SC; Edward's sister, Edith "Edie" Carpenter of York, SC; Edward's brother, William "Bill" Weller of West Palm Beach, FL; and Edward's sister-in-law, Betty Weller of Hudson Falls, NY; along with their many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Calling hours for Edward and Justeen will be 9:00 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Queensbury Church of Christ, 357 Aviation Rd, Queensbury, NY. A funeral service to celebrate their lives will immediately follow, at 10:30 am, with Rev. Ben Fronzek officiating.
After the service, all are invited to participate in a processional from the church to the gravesite at Bay St. Cemetery, Glens Falls. A graveside service, including military honors for Edward, will commence at 12:30 pm.
Family and friends are invited to join a Dutch style reception at O'Toole's Pub, 118 Quaker Rd., Queensbury, following the graveside service.
A funeral notice reminder will appear in the Post Star several days before the date of services (Sat., May 17).
