QUEENSBURY--- Elaine J. Murphy, 87, resident of the Eddy Village Green, passed away after a long illness Sunday, December 27, 2020 surrounded with loved ones by her side.
Born in Glens Falls on August 26, 1933, she was the daughter of James E. Murphy Sr. and Carrie Bennett Murphy.
She attended Glens Falls High School and later married Thomas Joseph Murphy in 1952 at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls.
Elaine loved to travel, go on vacations especially to Cape Cod, take scenic drives, attend gatherings, spend time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She donated her time as a volunteer at the Glens Falls Hospital Guild and as a volunteer at the Warren County Republican Committee.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Murphy; her siblings, Irene Gage, Evelyn DeRidder, Fred Murphy, James Murphy Jr., and Theresa Martindale; and her son-in-law, Duncan MacAffer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Kathleen and Robert Ludwig of South Glens Falls, Karen MacAffer of Menands, Brian and Kathy Murphy of Queensbury; brother, Clarence Murphy of Waite, ME; grandchildren, Carrie and Kyle Varney, Michael, Bradley and Meghan Murphy; step-grandchildren, Ann, John, Bruce and Jean MacAffer; great-grandchildren, Callan, Gretel and Abigail Seaman, Mia, Seth & Trent Varney; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
No public services will take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A celebration of Elaine's life will be held at a later date.
A graveside ceremony will be held private to the family at Pine View Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Eddy Village Green of Cohoes and The Pines at Glens Falls.
