Obituary

QUEENSBURY -- Eleanor Rushby Robinson, age 93, formerly of Westwood Dr. in Queensbury, died Monday, March 16 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born on January 8, 1922 in Port Henry, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Bolton) Rushby.

She grew up in Corinth, N.Y. and graduated from Castleton-on-Hudson High School. She earned a degree in Physical Education and Heath from Ithaca College and did her graduate studies in elementary education at New Paltz.

Eleanor served as a wave in the US Navy during WWII and was stationed in Washington, DC during that time.

On January 23, 1945, she married her college sweetheart, Warren (Chip) Robinson. They were together for 59 years until his death in 2004.

Early in her career Eleanor taught physical education and after raising her family she returned to teach first and second grade in the Tarrytown School District for 22 years. She took great joy in education young children. She retired in June 1977.

Following retirement, she and Chip moved to Queensbury where she was active in the Glens Falls Hospital Guild and the Glens Falls Senior Center. Her favorite activity was interacting with her grandson during his formative years.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Donald L. Robinson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her daughter Joanne (Jodi) Fibiger and husband Fred of Glens Falls; and grandson, Gregory M. Fibiger of Reno, NV; along with several nieces and nephews.

At Eleanor's request there will be no memorial service. She will rest in Pine View Cemetery following a private ceremony.

Eleanor's family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton, where she resided for over six years. Also, many thanks to the staff in S Wing and A Wing at The Fort Hudson Nursing Home for their compassionate care along with outstanding support of Hospice.
