QUEENSBURY -- Eleanore Lucas Bowman, 89, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Eleanore was born August 1, 1925, the daughter of Floyd C. and Katherine Lucas of Queensbury. She was a graduate of the Glens Falls High School class of 1942.

After graduating, Eleanore worked for the Glens Falls Insurance Company. Later on, she spent many years at the Associates of Glens Falls insurance agency.

Ellie took great pride in the garden patches surrounding her rural home. She loved feeding and watching the birds outside her dining room window, as well as the resident critters who took full advantage of her generosity. Eleanore truly enjoyed traveling with her sister Edith and taking day trips to Vermont with sisters Margaret and Edie, her daughter Amy and Amy's daughter Rosie.

Eleanore was predeceased by her husband Otis L. Bowman and her sister and brother-in-law Edith L. and John L. Bowman.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret Lucas; daughter, Amy E. Smith; granddaughter, Rosalie Smith; son-in-law, Bryan Smith; a niece Nancy Newbern and nephew Brian Bowman; niece Aspen Star Forman and nephew Tristan Verra; dear friend and all-around helper David Brennan; friend and caregiver Frank Walter III; as well as nieces and nephews in the Bowman family.

Ellie requested that there be no calling hours or services. However, friends and family are warmly invited to a celebration of Ellie on Saturday, March 14th at 1p.m. at Sweet Basil restaurant, Route 9, Queensbury.
