GLENS FALLS – Elizabeth "Libby" A. (Scannell) Bailey of Webster Ave., Glens Falls, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at her home, and went to heaven at the age of 74.
Born May 24, 1939 in Glens Falls, Lib was the daughter of the late Bernard and Helen (McCarthy) Scannell.
Lib graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1957 and was employed at Glens Falls Hospital for over 30 years.
On Feb. 9, 1963 she married Richard "Dick" Bailey at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in South Glens Falls.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard "Dick" Bailey of Glens Falls; their three children, son, Michael Bailey, daughter, Bridget Girard, and son, Timothy Bailey; her sister, Susan Hayes and her husband, William, of South Glens Falls, her brother, Dennis Scannell his wife, Joyce, of Middletown, Ohio; her four grandchildren who she loved, Lee and Quinn Girard, and Brooke and Amber Bailey; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Gens Falls, with the Rev. Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.
A gathering to celebrate Lib's life will follow at the church.
