Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Obermayer, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Queensbury surrounded by family on March 10, 2018.

Born March 7, 1927 in Rockville Center, NY, she was the only daughter of the late Dick and Florence (Johnson) Butt.

Betty Jane grew up in Rockville Center on Long Island and spent her happy childhood visiting with extended family and traveling the eastern US by car with her mother and father. After high school, she attended college at the Maryland School for Girls and later became a secretary. In 1949, Betty Jane married Charles J. Obermayer and settled in Seaford, NY where she became a devoted mother to six children.

In 1958, Betty Jane and Charlie bought a summer cabin on Trout Lake in Bolton Landing, NY. She loved the peace the Adirondacks brought to her and her family. In 1985, she and Charlie moved to their current residence in Queensbury.

Betty Jane had a kind and generous spirit, was naturally conversant and enjoyed the company of others. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, cooking, golf and attending her exercise class in Glens Falls.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years.

Survivors include her children, Linda Gisiger, William (Mary) Obermayer, Joseph (Amy) Obermayer, James (Amy) Obermayer, Thomas (Dawn) Obermayer, Susan (Keith) Lincoln, Kelly Obermayer; her sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Betty Jane and her husband Charlie will be in the spring on a date to be determined.
