Obituary

Queensbury ---Elizabeth "Betty" Margaret Kershaw, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 after a brief illness.

Born August 24, 1918 in Susquhanna, Penn., she was the daughter of George and Irene Strakos.

Elizabeth's parents immigrated to the U.S. from Budapest, Hungary in 1914 settling in Susquhanna, Penn. Elizabeth was born 4 years later. The family moved to Bergen, N.J. where Elizabeth commuted to NYC via the ferry for her accounting career before the George Washington Bridge was built. She married Fred Kershaw in 1950 and moved to Park Ridge, N.J. in 1954, where she raised her family. She lived there for 57 years until moving to Bolton Landing, N.Y. in 2011, to be near her son.

Elizabeth graduated from High School and was employed as an accountant at Medical Economics.

Elizabeth loved her rose gardens and cooking. She spoke Hungarian and German fluently. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, and mother to her family and grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a caring, kind person.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Fred Kershaw; and a brother, Robert Strakos.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kevin Kershaw and Karene White; grandchildren, Katelyn, Emilie, Tammy, and Lindsay; and a great-grandchild, Samuel Peter.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Warren Center for the great care she received in her last years.
