GLENS FALLS – Ella May Schmidt, 87, of Glens Falls, NY passed away at Friday, September 25, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.

Daughter of Ada (Byrnes) and Carl Neilsen, Ella was born May 5, 1927 in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Ella graduated from Grove Cleveland High School. She worked as a Book Keeper at Hill Corporation, in Warrensburg for many years.

On July 15, 1950 Ella married her husband, Charles Schmidt, and they celebrated 64 wonderful years together.

Ella is predeceased by her siblings Matthew, Dorothy, Ruth, Grace, Ada and Gladys, along with cousins, Howard and Faye DeGarde.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Charles Schmidt; three daughters, Ella Hitchcock, Charlene Beagle, husband Keith, Sharon Fairbanks, husband Steve; six grandchildren, Edward Beagle, wife Jill, Richard Beagle, wife Sue, Don Beagle, Stephen Fairbanks, wife Deb, Dan Fairbanks, wife Brenda, Shannon Hitchcock; ten great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Ella's request there will be no calling hours or services.

Burial will be private to the family.

Donations may be made, in honor of Ella, to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to Adirondack Save a Stray, 4880 New York 9N, Corinth, NY 12822.
