GLENS FALLS --- With a heavy heart, Ellen M. Jackowski (Sawn), of Glens Falls, NY, just 63 years old, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 29, 1958, in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the oldest daughter of John E. Sr. and Melvina (Smith) Sawn.

Ellen spent her younger years with her mother and sister learning to sew and crochet while all of her brothers were outside playing. She enjoyed this time with her mom and continued to crochet with her as an adult. One year they made enough beautiful crochet dolls for her daughter and all of her nieces.

Like others in her family, Ellen worked for Web Graphics, of Glens Falls, for many years in the billing department. Eventually, she found her time was best spent visiting with friends, reading, looking at the flowers in the garden and being with her precious grandchildren whom she loved with her whole heart.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph Hebert Jr.; both sets of grandparents; her cherished sister, Jane Costello; brothers, Peter and Daniel Sawn; and little niece, Annmarie Sawn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Katie (Ernie) and Oliver (Kelli) Hebert; her five precious grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary, Joseph, Emmitt, and Spencer Hebert; her strong brothers, John Jr., Clayton, Thomas (Dawn) and James Sawn; aunts, Jenny Staunches, Gert Shippey, Donna McCabe; uncles, Halsey (Nancy), Ed (Cathy), Bill (Dale), and Lou Smith; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Visitation for friends and family will take place Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Loren Gage, officiating.

A graveside ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Luzerne Rd., Queensbury.

A gathering will be held at West Mountain Community Church, 3 Aviation Rd., Queensbury, following the services. Friends and family are encouraged and welcome to bring a dish to share for a late light lunch.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses on Tower 5 at Glens Falls Hospital who took wonderful care of their mom during her time there, especially Nurse Jackie who went above and beyond for the family.

In loving memory of Ellen contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
