FORT EDWARD --- Elmer "El" Francis Baulsir, 85, of The Oaks in Fort Edward, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 19, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, he was the youngest of four children born to Howard E. Baulsir Sr. and Jane E. Green.
Residing in the Poughkeepsie area for the majority of his life, he was an Industrial Engineering Technician for IBM, Fishkill, N.Y. He moved to Queensbury in 1995. Upon establishing residence in Queensbury with his wife, Jean, they became active in Queensbury and Moreau Senior Centers. They also became members of the Moreau Fun Band, a volunteer singing group that went to nursing homes to entertain the residents. Other volunteer efforts included work for the Warren County Tourism Bureau, Adirondack Mountain Club, and RSVP For Warren, Washington, and Saratoga County.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Howard, and a sister, Ruth Fisher.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls and a member of the church choir. Other interests included affiliations with the National Woodcarvers Associations, and the Adirondack Carvers, a local group. Previous affiliations include the Hudson Valley Woodcarvers of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., and the Mid-Hudson Woodcarvers Guild of Monroe, N.Y. He was also an avid hiker and fisherman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Jean Baulsir of Fort Edward; two sons, Daniel Baulsir of Oregon City, Oregon, and Thomas (Amy) Baulsir of Gansevoort; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Peter) Grazian of Vancouver, WA, Melissa (Michael) Warford also of Oregon City, Jonathan (Deborah) Baulsir of Glen Allen, VA., Kathryn (James) Schoonover of Cleverdale, and Brian Baulsir of Saratoga Springs; 9 great-grandchildren, Hannah Grazian, Tyler Brewer, Nicolas, Zachary, and Brendan Warford, Teagan, Braelyn, and Bryce Baulsir, and Malarie Schoonover; one great-great granddaughter, Lillian Brewer; many, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Calling hours will take place Thursday, March 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Glens Falls, Maple St., with the Rev. Don Schuler officiating.
A graveside service will take place Thursday, April 30, at 2:30 p.m. at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
