Emily Elizabeth Vannier, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the home of her son, Robert, of Queensbury.
Emily was the daughter of Frederick and Edna (Eames) Reasor, born Dec. 5, 1922 in Big Flats, NY.
At the age of 5 her widowed mother re-married Mr. Johnson and they moved the blended family of eleven children to a tobacco farm in Pa., where the older boys worked the oil leases. She attended Titusville and Pleasantville schools.
Emily moved to Elmira to work during the early war years. There she met Edison Vannier of Glens Falls. They married in St. Mary's Rectory, Glens Falls, in 1943 while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy and moved to this area.
They enjoyed their camps on Glen Lake, boat rides in summer, traveling across the U.S. in fall, and snowmobiling in the winter.
She loved gardening, watching birds, the out-of-doors and a modest life.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by all brothers, sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Emily is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Dean Patnode of Glens Falls; Emily's son, Robert (Colleen) Vannier of Queensbury; daughter, Vickie Vannier of Glens Falls; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Amy) Dean of Alexandria, Va., Kevin Dean of Albany, James Dean of Glens Falls, and Robert Vannier of Schenectady; 6 great-grandsons, Keegan and Caiden Vannier of Schenectady, Edison, Eli, and Emmet Dean of Va.; one great-granddaughter, Janessa O'Mally of Glens Falls; 3 great great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, George Morrison; a sister-in-law, Carole Vannier; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Emily's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Dec. Bill Bazinet officiating.
